The Hamburg Student Section hosted a two day workshop on foley recording and film sound design on October 5-6. With the participation of famous foley artist Christian Moslener and sound engineer Prof. Thomas Görne, secrets of foley recording was illustrated step by step in all artistic and technical details. The guests had the chance to live hands-on experience of recording for selected movie scenes, wandering around countless possibilities of designing sound through different combinations of foley material, miking, equalizing, and software effects. Some unconventional methods like physical contact or recording under water (keeping it dry and safe inside :) were experimented and proved to be perfect for particular instances.
