This talk discusses the basics of microphone directivity, particularly using two closely spaced microphones. We will show why the microphones in these small directional systems must be very closely matched in sensitivity across the frequency band for good directional performance, and how we pull this off even though the matching tolerances are approaching the limits of our ability to measure the microphones.
