Summary
This year's soldering seminar was given by Alton Dellinger of MTSU. The seminar began with a Powerpoint presentation discussing the types of solder and the current issues with lead solder, tining the iron, removing the old solder, creating a solid and complete connection, choosing an iron for personal use, and safety precautions. Dellinger then gave a demonstration in which he showed how to prepare cables and apply even heat. The audience members were then able to practice their soldering skills at one of the many soldering stations set up for the event. They created an XLR cable from scratch, tested their cable, and had their work critiqued by a staff member. This annual event was well attended and extremely well received.
