McGill University - February 18, 2013
Simon Ashby discussing how Wwise is used in a production pipeline. McGill University section, Feb 18, 2013. Photo credit: Brian Chan.
Summary
Simon Ashby discussed and demonstrated the Wwise platform (a industry standard middleware for audio in video game development) and the nature of interactive audio. He constructed examples (including a minigun) in Wwise, and explained how a sound would need to be broken down and conceptualized to work in a non-linear, interactive environment. The audio side of the award winning indie video game "Limbo" was opened up in Wwise, and examined in tandem with the visuals of the game.
