Summary

The meeting included presentations regarding aspects of digital media archiving:

-Workflow - ingesting, managing, searching and tracking a database
-Recording formats
-Metadata - how much and what information is tracked
-Rights - ownership, usage, authorization, legal concerns

Al Grosnicklaus gave a presentation that demonstrated the news footage archiving process and databases for WTHR. He explained the evolution of archiving and metadata entry. John Wright demonstrated the digital rights tracking procedures for WTIU, and specifically showed members how program airings were monitored. Brian McGinnis answered questions regarding the legality of using media owned by networks and media generated by private citizens.
