Let Us Hear Your Music

  1. Anyone is welcome to bring some music to a meeting for the group to listen to as background. It can be something you've performed, recorded, and/or just something you want to share with the group. We talk a lot about music playback but don't get to listen to any, and we are doing this to remedy that.
  2. There are two opportunities to play music at each meeting: 30 minutes before we start, and 15-20 minutes at intermission. Each of those segments will be provided by different people.
  3. Any and all genres are welcome, but be prepared for somebody to not like or be indifferent to what you've provided.
  4. We (Rick and Dan) reserve the right to adjust the volume and tone of all music while it's being played. We will listen to but not necessarily act on suggestions.
  5. It would be best if your material was edited to conform to the sime slot. If what you bring is longer than the time allowed we WILL fade it out so the meeting can start/resume. If what you bring is shorter than the time allowed we reserve the right to fill the unused time with something of our choosing.
  6. Dan will bring 2 Meyer Sound UPJ-1P speakers to each meeting this year for PA and stereo playback purposes. Rick or Dan will provide control for any particular meeting.
  7. Music to be played should be on CD (red book, 44.1/16). We will put the CD in a CD player and let it play. We will not play tracks out of the order they are on the CD. It would be best if there's nothing else on the CD. You may want to process the audio for listening at low volume. This is background music.
  8. We will play music that isn't on a CD, but it is up to you to bring all of the necessary hardware, terminating in analog audio on two 1/4" tip-sleeve phone plugs.
  9. You will have at most a minute after the conclusion of your music to describe to the group why you wanted to share this music with the group. Lyrics and music should not get us into trouble with anyone; all responsibility for that will be yours.
  10. To get to play your music:
    1. Let Rick know that you want to reserve the slot. The first one who replies gets your choice of pre- or intermission. The second to reply gets the other one. Third and fourth go on a waiting list in that order and should bring their music to the meeting.
    2. At the meeting, both reserved persons must be there BY 6:55pm. We will make sure it works before letting it play.
    3. If the reserved pre- person isn't there at 6:55pm, we will go to the Intermission person's music. If that person isn't there, we'll go to whoever shows up first of the four people holding reservations.
    4. If you have played your music for a meeting, you go to the back of the line to play music for another meeting until you work your way to the front of the line again. If there is no line you can again play your (hopefully new) music for any meeting.
  11. All these rules are to make sure that there is a flat playing field so there's no favoritism.
