Harman International - Customer Technical Manager

•Provide technical expertise to both Harman Customer Business Units and customers worldwide
•Provide customer with microphone and headphone application design support
•Arrange microphone and headphones samples for benchmark and testing.
•Take the lead on preparing cars for in-vehicle tests.
•Perform in-vehicle tests and build up/maintain competence for in-vehicle test tools and procedures.
•Support in-vehicle testing at customer side.
•Interpret technical specifications from the customer – ensuring Harman receives all necessary specifications form customer and check for feasibility with HEA R&D team and discuss any discrepancies with customer
•Assist personnel of the Harman Customer Business Unit with an understanding of the technical specifications
•Report customer problems back to Quality, Operations, Sales, Program Management and Engineering through approved channels and tools
•Work with other Harman colleagues around the world to provide best-in-class support on a global scale
•Meet with potential and existing customers to showcase Harman Consumer solutions and products including technical reviews.
•Work with OEM, Tier 1 customers and Harman Customer Business Units partners to meet schedule demands, maintain flexibility to meet the needs of customers
•Provide product demonstrations at industry trade shows worldwide
•As required, work with Program management/Quality on change request or EOL situations
•Provide HEA team with customer contacts and reporting lines as well as any additional relevant information
•Initiate and drive R&D projects with customers during RFI/RFQ phase
•Pro-actively drive preparations for Tech Shows for customers in agreement and/or collaboration with CBUs
•As required, making sure of functionality of demo systems and completion of sample set for technical presentation
•Determine customer’s technology needs for new systems/products in close cooperation with the HEA R&D team
•Work with R&D and Sales/Business Development teams on technology strategy
•This position requires a BS degree or equivalent in Engineering, preferably Acoustics, Electrical or Mechanical.
•10+ years of Engineering experience. 5+ years experience in Program Management and/or Business Development.
•Strong background in electrical and/or mechanical automotive product development
•Strong background in microphones, audio technology and audio architecture
•Knowledge of and experience with Automotive APQP systems
•A history of successful, proactive performance supporting challenging customers
•Demonstrated ability to influence and persuade internal and external decision makers
•Demonstrated history of building successful technical and commercial relationships
•Knowledge of acoustic testing and data reporting.
•Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
•Strong computer skills using Microsoft Operating System and Office products.
•This position requires worldwide travel.

•Must have the ability to interact with our customers and functional groups within Harman International globally
•Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently
