The Consumer Electronics Product Engineering organization at Bose has an exciting opportunity for a digital signal processing (DSP) engineer. If you are interested in a career in audio digital signal processing, check this out:
The Audio Engineering team combines the talents of acoustics engineers and DSP engineers to create great sounding products that delight our customers. During a product development cycle a DSP engineer works closely with an acoustics engineer to ensure the product achieves the desired acoustic performance. The DSP engineer is responsible for making the necessary audio algorithms run efficiently on the embedded DSP target and assisting the acoustics engineer with the final tuning of the product.
As a Senior DSP Engineer you will provide technical leadership to other engineers and will have to interface with our electronics and software development teams to ensure our products maintain the high quality audio our customers expect. You will also be supporting our rapid-prototyping platforms for audio product development. These platforms typically consist of vendor-supplied DSP development kits along with our own custom MATLAB toolboxes which allow our team to quickly demonstrate and evaluate novel real-time audio system implementations.
•Methodical approach to solving technical problems
•Programming skills in C/C++, Assembly and object oriented coding
•Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing theory and implementation
•Solid understanding of signal processing concepts (discrete signals, sampling theory, z-transforms, Fourier transforms, FIR / IIR filter design)
•Ability to design and analyze digital filters
•Experience developing real-time embedded software
•Developing code for modularity, extensibility, reusability, and maintainability
•Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink or similar prototyping environments
•Proficiency with software and electrical engineering concepts
•Experience in investigating and debugging software and hardware issues
•Excellent written and verbal skills; capable of teaching and publishing detailed technical specifications
•Working knowledge of audio systems and/or acoustic application industry is preferred
•5-10 years' experience in DSP product development. More important is a strong ability to identify and solve challenging technical problems.
•Assembly programming experience and C++
•Experience with embedded DSP hardware (TI, ADI, Qualcomm / CSR, and ARM)
•Experience with digital audio codecs, interfaces/formats (SPDIF, HDMI, USB, I2S, Dolby, DTS, MP3, AAC, SBC, PCM, A2DP)
•Embedded processor communication (UART, SPI, I2C)
•Strong understanding of fixed-point DSP challenges (quantization, limit-cycles, error spectrum shaping)
•Knowledge of physical acoustics, room acoustics and loudspeakers
•Familiarity with psychoacoustics concepts (localization, loudness perception)
•Critical listening skills, experience with formal listening experiments
•Passion for sound quality
•Experience with signal processing for audio reproduction and/or capture (recording or reinforcement)
•Active musician and/or recording engineer
B.S. in related technical discipline (EE, Physics, Computer Science); Graduate degree is a plus
