Role Description

Proof and manage external/internal requirements on HW systems
Work-out technical risk analysis and feasibility studies
Estimate engineering efforts for complex HW-systems
Project responsibility in the role as a HW-project leader
Synchronization with Project leaders in China Core-Development-Center
Concept analysis and development of automotive audio amplifier and DC/DC power-supplies
Project management regarding costs, manufacturing, timing and coordination with the customers
Customer interface between engineering in China and carmakers in Europe
Verify project requirements and defining engineering specifications
Consider customer standards and specifications to aim for the best cost/performance solution on the market
Key Contact for RFIs and RFOs on new amplifier projects
Leading the project coordination to setup new RFIs and RFQ across departments
Organizing the requirements process and aligning all related project members
Coordinating Innovation development with the Advanced Technology Group (ATG)
Participating in Global Amplifier Platform approaches with Chinese and NA colleagues


Our Requirements

Degree in Engineering, preferably with majors in electronic, engineering, automotive or similar
Passion for new technologies, circuit design, power applications, audio and acoustics
Experience in EMC Design of electronics and mechanics
Several years‘ experience of design-in of audio signal processors, microcontroller and switch mode power supplies
Experience in circuit design simulation with PSpice optional experience in thermo simulation and VHDL programming
Experience with CAN and MOST bus systems
Fluent in English
Highly motivated
Self dependent work behavior, flexibility and the ability for continuous learning

Designing and developing automotive audio amplifiers starting with standard 2 channel concepts up to high end 24 channel solutions.
Cooperation in new technologies for future infotainment systems in vehicles
Dimensioning of DC-DC converter in a power range of 100W – 1000W
Customer-interface between our engineering in China and the OEM in Europe
Verifying the specifications and creating the technical regulations
Prepare test reports and project specific documentation
Design industrialized control units together with our mechanical engineers
Implement the specifications, standards and customer regulations


Skills & Requirements:

Engineering education, technical study or similar education
Established experience and interest in audio and amplifier design and automotive control unit design.
Basic knowledge in EMC ideally in the Automotive sector
Knowledge in EMC conform electronic design
Knowledge about application of digital signal processors, microcontroller and switch mode power supplies
Experience in schematic simulation with PSpice ideally knowledge in thermo simulations and VHDL programming
Knowledge in bus systems CAN and MOST

Senior Acoustic Research Engineer

Essential Responsibilities:

Work as a member of a team of acoustic/psychoacoustic researchers for key R&D projects associated with improving the performance of headphones, loudspeakers and their interaction with consumer, professional and automotive listening spaces.
•Collaborate with researchers and engineers in Harman Lifestyle to develop better design and test methodologies and tools for home and car audio system design.
•Collaborate with researchers and engineers in Harman Pro to develop better loudspeaker systems and methodologies for in-situ optimization of professional systems.
•Responsible for developing and collaborating with cross-HARMAN synergy in the areas of audio system design (including loudspeakers, amplifiers and DSP)
•Lead cross-HARMAN technology initiatives for new and novel loudspeaker characterization and car/room/venue tuning methodologies.
•Collaborate with Universities and outside organizations in the development of new loudspeaker technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics or similar).
•1-5 years experience in Loudspeaker and/or transducer Research and Development
•Advanced degree- MS, PhD- and Acoustics curriculum/research without industry experience will be considered
•In-depth understanding of loudspeaker and loudspeaker-room measurements and measurement methodologies and how they are psycho-acoustically relevant.
•Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
•Experience in the following technological areas:
Transducer development.
Loudspeaker Systems development.
Audio Systems development.
Room Acoustics.
Automotive audio system development
Distributed team product development.


Desired Characteristics:

•Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
•Excellent presentation skills.
•Excellent critical-listening skills.
•Experience in two or more of the following technological areas:
