Bose is seeking an Audio Transducer Engineer, focused on Acoustics, to join our team within the Automotive Systems Division. Our team’s unique long-range approach requires high level technical vision as well as the ability to focus on the finest theoretical and perceptual details.
In this position, you’ll use your expertise in acoustics to create and deploy innovative audio experiences for the automotive industry. Through our team’s highly iterative and hands-on approach to innovation, you will develop components required enable the ideas from our Applied Research team, ranging from a theoretical foundation to interactive demonstrations that will be experienced by product division stakeholders and automotive manufacturers. In your role, you will be responsible for the acoustical “oversight” of components from suppliers. At times, these new components will require the creation of design guidelines for the deployment of these components to our Global Audio System Engineering community.

Responsibilities:

Advancing the state of the art of audio performance by developing components for our Applied Research team to the deployment to our regional offices prior to production applications.
Extensive collaboration with audio systems and research engineers on the technical and perceptual merits of the innovation.
Demonstration of innovation prototypes to product division stakeholders and external automotive customers.
Develop design guidelines to educate appropriate engineering teams to deliver innovations to the product development team.
This position will require some domestic and international travel.
Must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Experience with research and development of audio technology incorporating signal processing, acoustics, psychoacoustics and related fields of engineering.
Experience in acoustic design and integration with automotive electronics, and electronic control modules.
Research experience involving mathematical analysis and modeling.
Deeply passionate and knowledgeable about audio engineering.
Experience with supplier “oversight” for components.
Position involves driving prototype vehicles to evaluate and verify system performance; Valid driver's license is required with a clean driving record

Matlab and Simulink experience
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Experience with speaker design and selection

Qualifications:
7+ years of professional hands on relevant experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical or Equivalent degree with an emphasis on Audio Engineering, DSP, or Communications.
Masters of Science in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical or Equivalent is preferred

Acoustic Systems Engineer - R13704

Join our team to find out… our Automotive Systems Division in Michigan is looking for automotive engineers with a passion for creating world-class sounds in the automobile. We specialize in using Bose signal processing features to make the car cabin quieter- reducing unwanted powertrain or road induced sounds. Too much quiet can sometimes be a bad thing- we also use our DSP algorithms to enhance and refine powertrain- or electric motor- sounds to make vehicle acceleration more fun (more smiles per mile).

Responsibilities include:

Drive prototype vehicles on-road or a chassis dyno to study their sound profile using Noise and vibration analysis software like LMS Test.lab or Artemis
Create vehicle specific calibrations that maximize system performance- collaborate with OEM Noise engineers to identify target sounds- Use engineering judgement to balance system performance & robustness using all available speakers and inputs
Maximize the delivered value to the OEM, thru relentless attention to detail and attentive customer service
Innovate, advance Bose ASM technology by developing creative solutions or techniques that optimize effort, maximize performance or offer new features that add value to the OEM
Create concept systems that excite the customer- demonstrate Bose capability to solve real vehicle issues
Collaborate with global peers to share learnings and experiences & plan future improvements

Requirements:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering (with emphasis on signal processing, software or control systems)
Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on DSP, Control Theory or Communications preferred
Valid Driver’s license with clean driving record
Flexibility in work location between Bose and customer sites in metro Detroit area
First shift: typical day is 7am to 4pm (with hour break for lunch)
Authorized to work in the US with ability to travel internationally (occasionally)
Ability to write software/debug scripts for small software projects (C/C#, matlab, python, JAVA)
