Principal Real Time Software Developer

DTS is looking for a Principal Real-time Software Engineer to join our media and streaming tools team. The ideal candidate will assume a technical leadership role in architecting and implementing mediaplayers incorporating DTS’ state of the art audio codecs. Applicants will have previously delivered a number of mediaplayer architectures, frameworks and end player applications with a focus on real-time playback of video and audio content to quality control standards, ideally on the MacOS-X and Windows platforms. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and focused, comfortable collaborating with geographically dispersed teams, an audio enthusiast, and eager to make a difference as a member of a motivated team. Strong troubleshooting skills, excellent written and spoken communication skills, and a strong drive to solve problems are also required for this position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Creation of A/V players incorporating DTS technology
• Architect and implement multicore/multithreaded frameworks for A/V playback
• Profiling and optimization of multimedia frameworks
• Use of GPUs to accelerate playback and render video
• De-multiplexing of standard container formats
• Incorporation of streaming technologies into mediaplayers
• Transport of A/V over HDMI
• Creation of mediaplayers with support for HDR video
• Perform research and feasibility studies including defining the scope and goals of video research tasks and completion of detailed reports on results and recommendations for development activities
• Guide and/or assist members of our team with technical issues
• Contribution to and review of standards relating to DTS which incorporate video

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering field is required. A Masters degree in Engineering is a plus
• 10+ years experience with a Bachelors degree or 8+ years with a Masters degree required.
• Expert knowledge of C/C++ required
• H.264, H.265 and 4k video decoding and rendering
• Video overlays for transport controls and subtitling
• HDMI input and output
• High Dynamic Range video
• Multimedia playback on OS-X
• Experience in memory management
• Knowledge of digital media streaming technologies
• Experience of container formats and how they are created

Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

In addition to traditional SQA skills, such as creating test plans, writing automation scripts, executing tests across multiple platforms, the successful candidate will bring innovation to this rapidly expanding SQA role in the integrated development lifecycle. Primarily focused on creating cross-platform media creation and analyzing applications, any related background or work in MPEG or media technologies is highly desirable.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•Create and run automated regression/cross-platform test suites and analyze result samples to determine adherence to test plans.
•Improve SQA testing efficiency and develop automated test suites including UI automation.
•Create and execute functional test plans for cross-platform apps.
•Create unit level test suites for continuous integration environments and regression testing.

Required Education and Experience

iOS Software Engineer

DTS is seeking a Senior iOS Software Engineer to work with a highly-skilled team of engineers in our growing Los Gatos office. The successful candidate will work closely with product and marketing managers, user interaction designers, and other talented software engineers to develop new audio product offerings and improve existing ones. The iOS Engineer will be creating SDKs and integration our audio technology into 3rd party media players. This role is expected to be the DTS iOS platform expert.

• Design, code, and comment the best technical solution to challenging business problems using C/C++, Objective C and/or Swift programming language.
• Design and code appropriate unit tests.
• Accurately document technical design and key design decisions.
• Prepare technical product documentation.
