Director, Build and Release Management

Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure & Operations, the Director, Build and Release Management will lead the Build Management Office to ensure that the Continuous Integration System meets the needs of the Software Development teams providing a reliable and consistent process. The Build Management Office is responsible for all Software Engineering tools including software configuration management, issue tracking, internal wiki, code review tools and software build tools.
In this role, you will support Atlassian's JIRA, Confluence, FishEye/Crucible, and Crowd applications to meet the needs of the Technology Organization (Engineering) as well the needs of system users in other functions throughout the company. As the adoption of the Agile / Scrum / Kanban methodology expands to various teams, you will promote best practices while advising teams on how to get the most out of the Atlassian tool suite.
As Director, Build and Release Management you will be responsible for the Continuous Integration (CI) System used by internationally distributed Software Development teams. The CI System builds applications for desktop and mobile device platforms as well as SDKs for a variety of embedded platforms.
• Leads a cross-functional software release management team, comprised of, build engineers and software release operations personnel.
• Set and manage team goals and initiatives to align with organization and company-wide goals.
• Ensures high availability of all systems managed by the Build Management Office by proactively reducing the probability of system failures and managing the response to failures that do occur.
• Defines and develops project plans.
• Identifies needed resources for projects, and assigns major project roles.
• Manages projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget constraints.
• Organizes project activities and interdepartmental meetings to ensure that stakeholders’ objectives can be achieved.
• Assigns and monitors work of personnel providing support and interpretation of instructions and objectives. Work includes, but is not limited to:
o Review plans for new or modified build, release and deploy processes for clarity and completeness.
o Participate in all project phase reviews; recording any nonconformance.
o Add info on SQA team participation! Work with development to create spec for new products or features, and then test from that spec [Allan – not sure about the relevance of this requirement. This seems more like a Test Engineering task than a Build Management Office task.]
o Work with Development and SQA to integrate testing into the Continuous Integration software build process.
o QA of packaging – build files, documentation, source code libraries, etc.
o QA of tools and utilities.
o Assist SQA teams in developing test plans for adherence to standards.
o Work with R&D and/or consultants on defining and enhancing comparison tools and other utilities.
o Reviews current systems and makes technical/process recommendations for improving efficiency.
• Functions collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer oriented team and perform effectively as an independent producer under broad management direction.

Education and/or Experience:

1. BA/BS Degree in CS, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience with Engineering Systems Administration, or Application Systems Administration, or Development Operations in a medium to large-sized environment. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in establishing and upholding procedures with a focus on sustainability and maintainability as an organization grows.
3. 4+ years’ experience with continuous integration build systems (e.g. AntHill Pro, Electric Commander, Jenkins) implementing multiple parallel build processes using a virtualized environment.

Fellow, Software Solutions Engineering

DTS is looking for an inspiring technical expert to drive innovation in a multiplatform, product development environment. As Fellow, Solutions Engineering, you will work with business, research and development teams to design solutions for audio technologies that are deployed across multiple technical platforms. You will be responsible for the overall solution design for one or more strategic initiatives across all delivery platforms including web-based services (cloud), mobile (iOS, Android, Windows) SDKs and OEM platform integration, and desktop (Windows, Mac). While this is an individual contributor role, you will collaborate with engineering managers and their teams to ensure highest quality, timely delivery of the end-to-end solution.

You will help define and maintain coding best practices, continuous integration processes, unit testing practices, and integration testing practices to achieve a consistently high level of rapid, quality software delivery. As Fellow, Solutions Engineering, you will also interface with our customer service teams, and directly with customers and integration partners, to drive the integration of DTS ingredient technologies into OEM/ODM platforms.

As a recognized expert with a wealth of knowledge, you have a proven track record of resolving the most complex and broad reaching technical challenges. You will set the example of “best practices,” maintain current competitive awareness, and participate in emerging trends and technologies. You will make strategic recommendations and identify how they will benefit/impact the organization.

To be successful in this role, you must have superior coding skills in C/C++ and 2 other languages. You must be experienced with lean and agile methods. You must be enthusiastic, collaborative, and a quick learner. Travel is required for this position (approximately 30% of time), which is based in Calabasas, California. This position reports into the Office of the CTO.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Extraordinary communication skills. Multiple languages a plus.
• Designs and communicates the overall architecture for one or more technology programs, which contain a portfolio of related products (including defining key interfaces) between product development teams and platform integration strategies.
• Ensures technical consistency of products within one or more programs through design reviews, code reviews, documentation reviews, and end-to-end testing (including automated tests).


Required Education and Experience

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in computer science and/or engineering preferred. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required.
• Minimum 20 years of progressively complex experience with 2 or more notable commercial successes of multiplatform solutions.
• Recognized expert in your field.
• Published technical papers or briefs, blogs, white papers, or attained technology patents.
• Ability to blend technology solutions with strategic decisions and business constraints to maximize value.
• Broad experience contributing to and leading technology teams.

Principal VR/Game Audio Programmer

DTS Inc. seeks a talented vr/game audio programmer to work on next generation spatial audio solutions for games and VR applications on PC, console and mobile platforms.

DTS has a number of spatial audio technologies including Headphone:X and DTS:X which are well-suited to VR and Game applications. As part of a development team working in a scrum environment, you will help develop products and technology that enable VR and Game Developers to make high quality products which incorporate these technologies. We're looking for an experienced Product Manager with a proven track record in managing the lifecycle of applications for mobile and PC platforms. You will oversee the creation of the business models, product requirements, go to market plans, developer relationships and development of the appropriate tools, SDKs and or applications in a primarily B2B business.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Define DTS business strategies for application market based on expertise and understanding of industry landscape, trends and competitors; develop and track the KPIs for application market
• Lead a collaborative effort with cross-functional teams to develop product roadmaps, including strategies, business models and cases, features, core positioning, and messaging for products and technologies
• Deliver product requirements documents with business justifications and prioritized features
• Collect and present key market feedback to help define long term roadmap and strategies for technology development.
• Utilize extensive knowledge of the market to consult with customers and propose market ready solutions that will best meet the customer’s needs and objectives
• Advocate and promote DTS products and technologies at tradeshows, trainings, and PR events, including attendance as a product expert at events, as needed
• Manage licensing and legal paperwork for new and existing licensees

Required Education and Experience
• MBA or equivalent experience is required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Audio Engineering, or related engineering degree is a plus
• 2 or more years of relevant experience managing related products and technologies; specifically development and deployment of Media (Movie, Music or Game related) applications or SDK development for iOS and Android; Windows PC experience a strong plus.
• Direct experience in both the business case development and product definition phases of an application life cycle.
• Experience in fostering developer relationships

Other Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledgeable about audio, audio formats, and streaming technologies
• Previous technical project management and systems integration experience is desired
• Experience with SDK/API deliverables, including documentation, command-line scripting experience, and GUI design is a plus
• Excellent customer facing skills with a proven business acumen and an ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts
• Strong teamwork and project-related skills, ensuring open communication channels across the consumer and technology teams
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
