Acoustical/DSP Engineer

As an audio engineer you will work with interdisciplinary development teams, taking an active leadership role in designing world class audio products. You will use your rich technical knowledge, your deep understanding of the underlying physics, and your critical listening skills to conceive, design, prototype, develop, and deliver outstanding products that wow and delight our customers. You will also help setting milestones, budgets and schedules for your projects and for other projects inside the development team.
Responsibilities
-Translate product requirements into acoustic design options
-Select, specify, and evaluate transducers as necessary
-Evaluate design options through comprehensive computer modeling and extensive measurements and critical listening on physical prototypes.
-Tune signal processing to optimize audio performance and collaborate with DSP engineers to develop state of the art audio algorithms.
-Develop electro-acoustic modeling tools to help aid design process
-Closely co-operate with mechanical, transducer, and electrical engineers to select the best design for the product.
-Develop production ready designs and maintain highest performance throughout the development cycle
-Support manufacturing startup and continuous engineering
-Provide input to marketing in setting product requirements for new products
-Ensure the highest level of sound quality of the product
-Plan development schedules & milestones
Required Skills
-Basic understanding of loudspeaker design and theory of acoustics
-Good knowledge in signal processing especially for audio applications
-Comfortable with writing algorithms or data analysis scripts in engineering software tools such as Matlab
-Methodical and scientific approach to any technical problem
-Excellent verbal & written communication skills, comfortable with reading and writing detailed technical specifications
-Passion for sound quality and experience with critical listening
-Willingness to innovate and stretch the envelope of the current state of the art
Preferred Skills
-Experience in transducer design
-Experience in acoustic measurement and analysis
-Familiarity with Matlab Simulink and Realtime Workshop
-Some programming background in C/C++
-Knowledge of analog electronics, especially in audio amplifier
-Active musician or sound engineer
Education
B.Sc. in an appropriate technical discipline (EE, ME or Physics. M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred.)

Required Skills
-Deep understanding of loudspeaker design
-Experience tuning signal processing to optimize system audio performance
-Proven track record of designing high quality audio products
-Methodical and scientific approach to any technical problem
-Fluent in at least one acoustic computer modeling tool (e.g. Pspice, FEA, WinISD, etc.)
-Fluent in at least one computer based acoustic measurement system (Audio Precision, MLSSA, Smaart, etc.)
-Excellent verbal & written communication skills, comfortable with reading and writing detailed technical specifications
-Passion for sound quality
-Critical listening skills, experience with formal listening experiments
-Willingness to innovate and stretch the envelope of the current state of the art
-B.Sc. in an appropriate technical discipline (Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Physicist, M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred.)
Preferred Skills
-Experience in transducer design
-Experience in working with off-shore manufacturing & vendors
-Non-linear modeling, measurement and analysis
-Experience in program management (MS Project, etc.)
-MATLAB
-Knowledge of audio Digital Signal Processing
-Knowledge of electronic amplifier design, behavior and constraints.
-Active musician
-5+ years of direct product development experience
-Experience with contract manufacturing and far-east vendors.
Education
B.Sc. in an appropriate technical discipline (Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Physicist, M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred.)
