Acoustical Engineer for Consumer Audio Product Development

Responsibilities

oTranslate product requirements into acoustic design options
oSelect, specify, and evaluate transducers as necessary
oEvaluate design options through comprehensive computer modeling and extensive measurements and critical listening on physical prototypes. oEngage support groups as necessary
oClosely co-operate with mechanical, systems, and DSP engineers to select the best design for the product.
oTune DSP algorithms to maximize audio performance
oDevelop production ready designs and maintain highest performance throughout the development cycle
oSupport manufacturing startup and continuous engineering
oProvide input to marketing in setting product requirements for new products
oEnsure the highest level of sound quality of the product
oPlan development schedules & milestones
oEngage in creative time projects


Required Skills & Experience:

oMethodical and scientific approach to any technical problem
oFluent in at least one acoustic computer modeling tool (e.g. Pspice, FEA, WinISD, etc.)
oFluent in at least one computer based acoustic measurement system (Audio Precision, MLSSA, Smaart, etc.)
oExcellent verbal & written communication skills, comfortable with reading and writing detailed technical specifications
oPassion for sound quality
oCritical listening skills, experience with formal listening experiments
oWillingness to innovate and stretch the envelope of the current state of the art


Preferred Skills & Experience:

oExperience in transducer design
oExperience in working with off-shore manufacturing & vendors
oNon-linear modeling, measurement and analysis
oExperience in program management (MS Project, etc.)

Product Manager - Installed Loudspeakers

Our professional fixed-installation loudspeakers are engineered to meet the unique sound system demands of a wide range of venues: from world-class performing arts centers and professional sports stadiums, to commercial audio installations such as retail and hospitality.

As a Product Manager, you will be involved in supporting the Installed Loudspeaker product portfolio. Duties and responsibilities of the Product Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
• For assigned projects, lead marketing activities for new product development and launch, including defining market requirements and acting as “Voice of the Customer” for cross-functional product development teams, developing installation manuals, and contributing to the creation of new-product launch plans.
• Lead product lifecycle management of existing products, including concept development of feature enhancements, identifying cost reduction opportunities, defining new accessories, and developing initiatives that contribute to increased market share and profits for the product line.
• Conduct primary market research studies, gather competitive intelligence, and analyze sales trends to synthesize data and identify strategic insights to help guide product strategy and business development.
• Assist with development of training materials for new products and conduct technical training seminars to A/V integrators, system designers, and Bose sales representatives.


Skills:

• 5 years of relevant product management experience with technical products; experience with Professional Audio equipment manufacturer is desired, but not required
• Candidate should possess a proven track record of new product ideation, development with cross-functional engineering teams, and commercialization with sales/marketing teams
• Critical thinker, with demonstrated problem-solving skills combined with business acumen
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
• Knowledge of professional audio system design, operation, and installation is highly desired
• Experience with live-sound and/or studio sound engineering is an advantage; at a minimum, the candidate should possess a hobby-interest and passion for live music and audio products.
• Enjoys working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Occasional domestic and international travel (approximately 10 -20% of time)


Education:

• Bachelor of Science Degree with a Business, Marketing or Engineering major

Product Line Manager (Noise - Sound Management)

In this role, you will be responsible for current and future product management of a select group of products within Automotive Systems Division and Active Sound Management (ASM). The PLM provides market-driven direction for product development, brand strategy, positioning, pricing, cost control, etc.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Develop category product plans and roadmaps:
-Develop and maintain a product plan (roadmap) for all assigned product lines with recommendations for applications of technologies to new programs in a way that meets car development, Bose resource, and market demand constraints.
• Manages and maximizes category revenue:
- Work with the Customer Management Team(s), to manage sales volume, pricing and cost to deliver the best possible blend of revenue and profit to the division.
• Create Pricing model(s) & provides assistance with responses to customer RFQs:
- Develop overall strategic pricing models for assigned products and works with Technical Sales to propose the best possible pricing and negotiation strategy for each customer program/system
• Provide OEM customer engagement strategies and priorities and go-to-market business models:

Must have the following skills, abilities and knowledge:

• Significant years of progressive technical and business experience in areas of product management, engineering, operations finance, strategic marketing, program management, technical sales or strategic planning.
• Experience in automotive electronics; specifically audio, active noise reduction or NVH, is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of other automotive subsystems including powertrain, body and interiors is desired.
• International business experience and work with large, automotive OEMs is a strong plus.
• Leadership and organizational skill
• Ability to work across business disciplines and functions particularly products and marketing

• Demonstration of final innovation prototype to product division stakeholders as well as external automotive customers.

• This position will require some domestic and international travel.
Must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Must have experience and demonstrate proficiency with acoustics, psychoacoustics, and advanced signal processing.
• Experience with analysis, design, and implementation of complete audio systems incorporating both acoustics and signal processing.
