It is highly recommended that all participants arrange health, accident and travel insurance prior to travel.
Emergency treatment
is free of charge for foreigners. Hungarian doctors are highly qualified.

Legal
tender: forint (Ft, HUF). Money can be exchanged in exchange offices, banks, travel
agencies, hotels and in countless bankomats. (For information about the exchange
rates, see www.oanda.com.) Traveller's cheques
and Eurocheque (at most three at any one time to a maximum of Ft 35,000) are accepted
at currency exchange offices. Symbols at the entrance to establishments indicate
which cheques and credit cards are accepted.
VAT is 25% for most services in Hungary, except for accomodation which is 12%. Conference prices for registration and accomodation already include VAT.

The climate is continental. The average temperature in October is about 18 Celsius. Though it is the driest season of the year, it is advisable to bring a light overcoat and an umbrella.

Public
transport in Budapest is excellent by international standards. A wide
variety of buses, trolley buses, trams and underground trains usually
operate from 4.30 am to 11 pm. You have to purchase a ticket in advance
at the terminals, at underground stations or newsagents.
