The treasury of accumulated sound recordings held by the recording industry, broadcasters, national collections, and research institutions is estimated to be more than 50 million hours. This legacy constitutes an invaluable asset for the future. To preserve it and make it accessible is a challenge to audio engineers, archivists, and information technologists. The conference will explore the new horizons opened by recent technological developments in the fields of preservation, restoration, and access to sound recordings.
