A Hybrid Model for Simulating Diffuse First Reflections in TwoDimensional Synthetic Acoustic Environments

This paper describes an algorithm for the simulation of
diffuse first reflections using a hybrid of empirical and
physical models. The system uses modified components
of the Phong shading algorithm developed for
threedimensional graphics models in conjunction with
physical models of components of the Schroeder diffusers.
The development and analysis of the algorithm
are discussed.
