T29 - Audio Mastering's Core Values and the Influence of Modern Technology

There are certain core principles and perhaps “ethics” rolled into traditional mastering practice. As technology changes we accrue opportunities to do things better and challenges when the principles are diluted or obscured. This event will highlight examples of each and offer areas of inquiry worth undertaking for anyone looking to engage in audio mastering. The end of the workshop will examine the influence of technology in recording and audio distribution on the aesthetic of mastered audio, looking ahead to changes that may be on the near horizon.
