T13 - Recording the Orchestra—Where to Start?

With a focus on the orchestra as a complex sound source, this tutorial will cover the topics of how to listen, understanding microphones, concert halls and orchestral seating arrangements. How to set up the monitoring environment, and how to approach each section of the orchestra as part of the recording process. Concertos, Vocal and Orchestra, and live concert recording will be discussed. Audio examples will be used to support the discussion.
