Malcolm Dunn (BE, MAES) is a Director of Marshall Day Acoustics with almost 20 years experience in building acoustics, encompassing projects within New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Malcolm has been responsible for the acoustic design of civic buildings, schools, residential developments, recording studios, and tertiary education facilities. Notable projects include Oman Parliament (Majlis Oman, Al Bustan), Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki – World Building of the Year 2013, and Auckland University of Technology Communications School facility (Sir Paul Reeves Building).
Malcolm is passionate about 3D audio and VR. He is particularly interested in the way that developing technologies can close the gap between simulated and measured acoustic spaces, changing how acoustic designs are tested and evaluated. In addition to leading significant building acoustics projects, he heads the Marshall Day Listening Room (auralisation and VR facility) and is part of the IRIS software education team.
