Chris Mara owns a retro, all analog studio aptly named
"Welcome to 1979" in Nashville, TN. Taking all analog to the next level, the studio houses a lacquer cutting room featuring a Neumann VMS 70 system and electroplating facility with all newly designed and built equipment. When he’s not at the console engineering/producing rock and Americana artists, Chris can be found in his shop meticulously restoring vintage MCI tape machines which he resells as “Mara Machines” through Vintage King Audio.
Chris and the entire "Welcome To 1979" crew are dedicated to all aspects of analog recording including hosting "Tape Camps," speaking at conferences all over the country, as well as hosting an annual "Producer/Engineer Summit" right at "Welcome To 1979" each November that caters to the recording enthusiast interested in learning more about analog recording.
