AES Los Angeles 2016 Presenter or Author

Joel Susal

Primary Affiliation: Dolby Laboratories - San Francisco, CA, USA

Joel Susal is Director, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, at Dolby Laboratories. Joel is responsible for Dolby’s entry into and ongoing business within the AR and VR space, including the adaptation of Dolby Atmos® for use in exciting and new immersive experiences.

Joel joined Dolby in 2011 as the product manager in charge of tablet- and smartphone-based audio products. He worked with customers including Amazon, which adopted these products across the lineup of Amazon® Kindle Fire™ devices starting in 2012. Prior to Dolby, Joel worked at multinational corporations as well as startups; he was a founding team member at Location Labs, which was acquired by AVG Technologies in 2014.

Joel earned dual undergraduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania: a BS in economics from Wharton and a BS in computer science from the School of Engineering.
