Bjørn Kolbrek received a Bachelors Degree in electronic engineering from Høgskolen I Telemark in 2002, and worked from 2003 to 2010 as a R\&D engineer for Scana Mar-El, Norway. In 2009 he started part-time on a two-year Master's degree in acoustics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). From 2011 to 2013 he was part of the Integrated Ph.D. program at NTNU, completing the first year of the Ph.D. while finishing the M.Sc. degree in 2013 on the topic of simulation of curved rectangular horns using the Mode Matching Method. He is now a full-time Ph.D. candidate at the NTNU Acoustics Group, under the supervision of U. Peter Svensson, continuing the study of efficient horn simulation methods. His other interests include music, design of audio equipment, and the history of electroacoustics.
