14th International Conference
Conference Overview(see Schedule and Information for full details and session content...)

The internet is transforming the audio and multimedia industry, and our entire society. The advent of internet audio has eclipsed traditional digital audio as an agent of change. The 14th International Conference will examine the growth, development and impact of audio and multimedia technology in computer-based and network environments. This conference will feature technical presentations, discussion and interaction to chart the future of the internet audio industry.

The 14th International Conference is chaired by three internet audio authorities: David Johnson (New Media Designs, Inc.), Aurika Hays (Progressive Networks) and Ken Pohlmann (University of Miami). The full three-day program will include ten technical Symposia and nine Discovery sessions, featuring more than 50 invited presenters, each an industry expert. Scheduled topics include: open platform audio standards, audio policy and delivery, music and radio distribution over packet networks, server push technology, point-to-point audio, workstations and editing systems, online content development, perceptual coding, binaural and multichannel listening environments, virtual 3D audio, simultaneous multi-location recording, distributed audio datbases, distance learning, pyschoacoustics and distributed experimentation, collaborative instruction, audio education, internet copyright and the economics of internet commerce.

The conference venue is the Bell Harbor International Conference Center, Pier 66 - 2211 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98121. This newly-opened waterfront facility offers a prime location near downtown Seattle. The Conference Center and other venues will also serve as focal points for the technical demonstrations of the "audio.carnival" as well as social activities.
