Andrew Kimpel is an electrical / software engineer and product architect with 30 years experience in embedded software development and DSP algorithm design, and 15 years experience in the fields of audio engineering, acoustics, psychoacoustics, and spatial audio. Andrew first discovered he had an interest in the intersection of sound, electronics, computers, and music at the age of 6, and has pursued these passions ever since. As founder of Periphony LLC and the Auralab, he is currently doing independent research and development in the field of 3D-immersive audio and Ambisonics, working to develop cost-effective systems, software, and production tools in order to bring immersive audio experience to the masses. Andrew has a master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and holds a BS degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Oklahoma.
