Last Updated: 20050321, mei Monday, May 30, 09:00 — 11:00W7 - Making Music Smarter: Semantic Audio Research Projects in Europe Chair: Mark Sandler, Queen Mary University of London - London, UK Panelists: Michael Casey, Goldsmiths College, University of London - London, UK Frank Kurth, University of Bonn - Bonn, Germany Xavier Serra, Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona, Spain Hugues Vinet, IRCAM - Paris, France Abstract: This workshop focuses on four leading projects that apply the principles of semantic audio analysis to real problems of interest to the audio research community. They all share a vision of the near future in which consumers of digital music will want more than simply to download and listen: they will want to interact with their music in a variety of ways, such as finding the lyrics for the song they are listening to, finding pieces that they've never heard before but might enjoy, creating playlists for parties and for friends, and so on. Each panelist will give a 20-minute presentation on the work they are involved in, followed by an extended question and answer session. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring along and share information on their own projects. |
