Abstract:
While some broadcasters have already started 5.1 surround sound broadcasting for TV or radio, many issues remain to be discussed for familiarizing audiences with the 5.1 surround sound broadcasting. This workshop will discuss the following issues related to 5.1 surround sound broadcasting and productions: how to encourage ordinary viewers and listeners to switch to 5.1 surround sound devices; the most difficult aspects of 5.1 surround sound production; economic aspects of 5.1 surround sound production and broadcasting; and principal role of 5.1 surround sound in the art of sound and in broadcasting culture. All panelists will discuss the future of 5.1 surround sound.
