Thomas Dolby to give Keynote at New York Convention

Thomas Dolby will deliver the keynote address during the Opening Ceremonies of the AES New York 2018 International Convention. Since he burst onto the music scene in the 80s with genre-warping compositions and a pioneering production style that embraced and exploited emerging technologies, Prof. Dolby has been a seminal influence on legions of musicians, fans and audio professionals alike. With the title “The Conscious Sound Byte,” his keynote will focus on next-generation sound technologies, in particular adaptive/non-linear music and audio for games, VR/AR, “hearables” and other new media platforms.

AES@NAMM 2019

After its successful debut in 2018, the four-day international symposium returns to Anaheim, CA to run concurrently with the 2019 NAMM Show from January 24-27. 2019 International Conference on Headphone Technology

The second AES International Conference on Headphone Technology focuses on technologies for headphones with a special emphasis on the emerging fields of Mobile Spatial Audio, Individualization, Assistive Listening and Audio for Augmented Reality. AES71-2018: Recommended Practice Loudness Guidelines for Over the Top Television and Online Video Distribution has now been published. This AES Recommended Practice (RP), which started its life as a project of the AES Technical Committee on Broadcast and Online Delivery, describes the many issues related to online audio loudness variations. It provides comprehensive recommendations documenting effective guidelines for managing audio loudness of soundtracks of television and video content available to consumers by Over-The-Top (OTT) and by Online Video Distributors (OVD).
