Last Call for Berlin Convention Papers

AES 142nd Convention

AES 142nd Convention
Location: Berlin, Germany
Dates: 20–23 May, 2017

If you want to propose a paper for our Berlin convention, the deadline of January 9 is fast approaching. If you haven't time to prepare a full paper for review just now, we'll consider an abstract and precis in January and you can submit a paper by March 16 (although this won't be peer reviewed). Alternatively, you could submit a more lightly reviewed Engineering Brief proposal by March 1, followed by a 1–5 page manuscript. Engineering briefs provide an opportunity to describe work that may be practical or development-related, for example, or that may be work in progress.

The convention committee is also eager to hear about proposals for workshops and tutorials.

AES Publishes Pro Audio Reference

PAR

Created as the result of many years of hard work by AES Fellow, Dennis Bohn, the Pro Audio Reference (PAR) attempts to explain terms commonly used by engineers in the pro audio field. Dennis retired in 2016 and donated this work to the AES so that it can be maintained by future generations of audio engineers, as a living resource. Thanks to his generous act the PAR is now available to all from the AES website.

2017 International Conference on Automotive Audio

Automotive conf

Burlingame, San Francisco, CA, USA, 8–10 September, 2017
Today some of the most advanced sound technologies are being developed and applied in automotive audio. Recently the role of audio has changed, though, with sound systems now being used to design the sound that the car makes. The conference will give an overview of the present state-of-the-art, and will address many of the new scientific disciplines involved in this still-emerging field. Automotive audio involves combinations of otherwise complementary scientific fields such as power electronics, bus systems, loudspeaker drive units, signal processing (DSP), acoustics & vibrations (NVH) and more. For further information about taking part see the Call for Contributions.
