During the 136th Convention, held recently in Berlin, AES continued to forge new territory with its successful tracks and programs. Making its European debut was the heavily-attended Project Studio Expo, sponsored by DPA Microphones, as well as an expanded Sound for Picture track. Additional technical program events, manufacturer exhibitions, tech tours and more rounded out the Convention.

AES 138th Convention
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Dates: Spring 2015
AES Executive Director, Bob Moses, has announced that next year’s European AES Convention will take place in Warsaw, Poland, taking advantage of its burgeoning audio industry and growing base of audio engineers, producers and music aficionados. Exact dates will be confirmed shortly.

There's still time to register for this important conference dedicated to exploring advances in the field of audio forensics. It provides a platform for research related to the forensic application of speech/signal processing, acoustical analyses, audio authentication, and the examination of methodologies and best practices.
Helsinki, Finland, August 27–29, 2014
Registration will open mid June for the 55th Conference, which brings together researchers and practitioners in all aspects of spatial audio, including recording and reproduction, perception, transmission and coding. Dedicated workshops will give an up-to-date view of the practical implementation of spatial audio in different applications, such as broadcasting, game audio and the recording industry.
London, UK, February 11–13, 2015
The conference explores how games can get the most from their audio DSP, tools and workflow on console, PC and mobile platforms. As new applications arise in serious gaming and VR-based gaming, this conference explores the challenges and the solutions. The call for contributions is now open.

This event will bring together the best researchers, acousticians, and practitioners to address the current and future needs of cinema, television, and online sound distribution and reproduction. The call for contributions is now open.

The GRAMMY Foundation® Grant Program is generously funded by The Recording Academy®. To date, the Program has awarded over $6 million to more than 300 noteworthy projects. The Grant Program provides funding annually to organizations and individuals in the Americas to support efforts that advance the archiving and preservation of the recorded sound heritage of the Americas for future generations, as well as research projects related to the impact of music on the human condition. A letter of inquiry is required before submission of a full application. The deadline each year for submitting letters of inquiry is Oct. 1.
