Miniature vacuum tubes, transistors and integrated circuits got their first field trials in hearing aids. The present trend in discrete components, and integrated circuits as used in hearing aid amplifiers will be discussed. Gain, power output, environmental characteristics, efficiency, etc., of typical units will be discussed. In particular, single-ended Class -A- and push-pull Class -B- monolithic circuits will be described.
