Distance Perception Based on the Spectra of the Spoken Voice

Document Thumbnail

When making recordings of the spoken voice, the spectrum changes with distance and direction. This paper presents the results of experiments on the audibility of these changes. Special interest has been given to listeners' distance perception when comparing different spectra adjusted to the same level of loudness. One conclusion is that in some cases it is possible to detect the distance by the spectrum of the voice presented.
