A Study of the Distortions and Audibility of PCM to PWM Mapping
Using a novel PCM to PWM analytic mapper, the effects of input signal parameters on the PWM-generated distortions are studied and their audibility is assessed using perceptual criteria (NMR and PAQM). A wide range of input signal parameters is studied (e.g. oversampling 2,R,64, quantization N=4, 8, 16, and 24) and the tests cover both tone-like and typical audio input signals.
