New Facilities for Digital Audio Mixing
We have developed software which, in addition to performing the actual mix and providing essential supporting functions, is designed to facilitate the imposition of relationships among the mix parameters. These facilitating functionalities, including a graphical function-editor, a function-interpolator, and an invariant-calculator, implemented according to object paradigms, will be the subject of discussion here, first on the conceptual level, then in terms of implementation. These tools are potentially significant because they widen the range of expressions available to the sound synthesist and because they are widely applicable to many fields that require some form of sound synthesis.
