Evaluation of a Physiological Ear Model Considering Masking Effects Relevant to Audio Coding

Document Thumbnail

A physiological ear model for improved simulation of masking effects was presented in a preceding publication. In order to demonstrate its applicability to audio coding the simulated masked thresholds are compared with subjective measurements under conditions as present in that application. This includes that narrow-band noise instead of a pure tone is employed as test signal.
