Modeling and Controlling Excursion-Related Distortion in Loudspeakers

Document Thumbnail

Electro-mechanical parameter measurements made over the excursion range of a loudspeaker drive unit are used in a time-domain simulation to predict its response to arbitrary inputs. This approach allows study of subjectively annoying high-order distortion products from steady state, transient and musical inputs. Manipulation of the simulation suggests improved drive-unit designs.
