Central and Peripheral Masking and their Relations with Perception of Amplitude Modulation

The existence of a weighting mechanism for responses from particular hearing filters in dependence of sound level and kind of masking is corroborated. The importance of lower and upper sidebands for AM perception is also investigated and presented in the paper.
