A moment-enhanced spectrogram is an iteratively improved spectrogram whose useful low-order time frequency moments (e.g. spectral energy, group delay, instantaneous power or envelope power, and instantaneous frequency) are identical to those of commonly used time-frequency distributions, (e.g. Wigner-Ville), without having any negative values or interference terms. This paper presents a detailed intercomparison of moment-enhanced spectrograms, Wigner-Ville distributions, and spectrograms for a wide variety of signals.
