Absorptions and Reflections: Useful and New Tools in Room Acoustical Design

Document Thumbnail

For recording and good listening, the acoustical environment must fulfill minimum requirements. Absorbing and reflecting materials and constructions support the recording of speech and music. The reproduction of sound in control rooms and home recording situations have to consider strong reflections, inadequate reverberation times and the influence of modes. The question arises in which amount an equalization at the listening position is useful. For recording and listening the philosophy of the V-criterion should be considered. Proposals for the use of absorbing and reflecting materials will be made, including the explanation of measurement technique and craftsmanship work.
