Use of a 3-D Positional Interface for the Implementation of a Versatile Graphical Mixing Console

We are using a 3D positional interface to implement spatial sound software. Teleconferencing and soundtrack mixing applications are presented. Sound channels are associated with interaction objects that the user can manipulate in the 3D user interface to shape the desired sound field. We have developed a component-based architecture for different sound related operations (input, output, processing, transmission). The auditory scene automatically creates and controls a chain components for each sound stream.
