3D-Sound Reproduction Over an Extensive Listening Area: A Hybrid Method Derived from Holophony and Ambisonic
Two methods of 3-D sound reproduction for video conferencing are compared: holophony and ambisonic. Previous studies have shown that they are based on an equivalent reconstruction process. First comparisons between their sound pick-up approach conclude that ambisonic spatial encoding is more efficient, though unfeasible. The present paper completes this analysis by examining the sound reproduction step. Finally, a hybrid method is proposed.
