Networks and Internet

Document Thumbnail

As is often reported in the media, the Internet has begun a fundamental social change, the unlikely side effect of which has been to raise the profile of networks in general. For the audio industry to take full advantage of the phenomenon both locally and globally, an understanding of underlying mechanisms is required. After a brief, contextual look at the history and theories which gave rise to this powerful technology, this paper broadly outlines the definitions of Quality of Service that may be recognised by the majority of the audio community, and goes on to describes the principle relevant candidates for their fulfilment.
