Those aspects of room acoustics theory which have a bearing on the measurement of loudspeakers in live rooms are reviewed, and data depicting the reverberant field response of a typical directional and a nondirectional loudspeaker are presented. The reverberant field response for a low-frequency loudspeaker in a room corner is shown to be a function of distance to the corner and the symmetry, and implications for performance of loudspeaker systems are discussed.
