Computer modeling of centrally supported diaphragm-type compression drivers has been utilized in the design of 1-in and 2-in drivers. The modeling includes an accurate calculation of sound field in the compression air chamber through the use of wave theory methods. The complex nonpiston movement of the diaphragm is considered, with prediction of the on-axis response of the driver when loaded with a horn.
