Psychoacoustic facts are being extensively used in perceptive-based audio systems, as with perceptual coders or objective perceptual assessment methods, with useful results when trying to obtain distortion-free conditions. If some type of degradation is unavoidable, it becomes very significant to shape the nature of the artifacts to be introduced in order to reduce their annoyance. This paper summarizes a suggested auditory information structure, which is proposed to classify the subjective items to be taken into account when trying to improve the current and future perceptive-based audio systems. Some clarifying examples are given.
