Results of research on differential pitch sensitivity for short impulses of tone are presented. Time duration of these short pulses (from 0.25 to 10 periods) does not influence the pitch discrimination. For the shortest time, the perception is the same as for longer pulses. In conclusion, the threshold of differential pitch sensitivity for the shortest pulses depends significantly on changes in sound spectra produced by the loudspeaker or the : earphone.
