The wave field produced by horn arrays may be controlled by choice of horn type, horn placement, horn aiming and, more recently, signal delay shading. Delay may be used to shape and steer the wave field, providing sound system designers an important new tool. But delay cannot be used with impunity. Certain physical criteria must be met in the array or delay will produce a wave field quite unintended.
