Fundamental Aspects of the Binaural Recording and Synthesis Techniques

Document Thumbnail

This paper presents a Ph.D. study of some fundamental aspects of the binaural technique. The study reports on investigations of the acoustical and electroacoustical transfer functions during recording (or alternatively in the synthesis) of the binaural signals, in calibration of the transmission chain, and during reproduction. The performance that can be obtained using these methods is discussed from investigations of the listeners' localization of reproduced signals.
