Localization Experiments in Three-Dimensional Sound Reproduction

Document Thumbnail

An experiment is described which enables rapid comparisons to be made between real and phantom sound sources for a range of three-dimensional sound reproduction systems. Phantom sources can be created by any sound field process which includes stereo, ambisonics, and transaural processing. Measurements are presented to investigate the performance dependence upon sound field algorithm, input stimulus, loudspeaker array, and room-loudspeaker interface.
