Cascading of Different Audio Codecs
Within the ITU-R (formerly CCIR) listening tests were performed concerning the audio quality of several times coded audio signals (cascading). ISO/MPEG codecs with different configurations, according to the situation in a future digital audio broadcasting system, were used. Supplementary investigations were performed at the IRT concerning typical chains of broadcasting from the source to the receiver. Many different implementations of ISO/MPEG Layer II were tested within two detailed listening tests. The results are presented.
