This paper presents details of the design of a digital stereo generator which has been built using digital signal processing techniques. In addition to this, results are provided of performance tests carried out on the generator which show that many of the problems associated with equivalent analog systems have been reduced considerably. The sampling rate used was twelve times the pilot frequency, which allowed both the pilot and 38-kHz subcarrier signal to be generated through the use of look-up tables.
