With the emergence of discrete multichannel digital audio for movie sound tracks and giant screen cinema becoming increasingly popular, audiences around the world are experiencing a new level in film entertainment. Recent advances in sound reproduction have placed greater demands on the acoustic quality of movie cinemas. This paper presents some of the acoustic aspects of cinema design that need to be considered to preserve the experience of wide dynamic range, high-impact cinema.
